PROTECT A PUSS

We believe that all cats have a right to life, consequentley we have several cats in our care that are unlikely ever to be re-homed, either due to illness, disability or age. We run a sponsorship scheme for these cats, which is co-ordinated by Irene Wilson one of our volunteers. If you wish to sponsor one of our long term cats, please click paw      for our Protect a Puss Form. Thank You

At the moment we have 21 long term cats on our sponsorship scheme. During the day these cats have the freedom to roam about our branch from their newly built long term pen which is more comfortable and larger than the other pens. The branch pays for their food, litter and veterinary bills.

Under the sponsorship scheme, sponsors pay a set or annual amount of £25.00 to the branch or you can sponsor for two years at a reduced rate of £45.00. In return you get a picture of your sponsored cat, a certificate of sponsorship and regular updates on the cat's health and antics. Sponsors may be individuals, groups, clubs, schools or companies.

Why not give that special someone a sponsorship to protect a puss. Gift Protect A Puss membership is available and makes an ideal present for a friend or child. Birthdays, Christmas or simply a token of friendship, its the purrfect present for any cat lover. To give someone a Protect A Puss Gift, please click paw

The presence of a cat on the sponsorship list does not mean that we won't rehome it if the right owner comes along.

HEIDIE - She is a lovely 5 year old black and white cat. Her previous owners had left her behind when they moved. Hiedie was found in the shed with a litter of kittens. She can be shy, but not that shy as she obviously likes posing for photos. (what a poser).

heidie

CURLY - She is a 12 year old white and black cat, and got her name because her ears curl. This is due to her having white ears, and getting them sun burnt (White cats need to have sun block on them when the weathers hot, otherwise they can suffer from sun burn). Due to her ears been sun burnt they have curled. Consequentley Curly's ears are pre-cancerous, and eventually will have to be removed. She was found at the Leisure Lakes with her sister, and they were both pregnant. She was a shy cat originally, but she has gained trust is us now, and is more friendly.

Curly

ALICE - She is a 7 year old white and black cat. We do not know how old Alice is, as she came to us with all her fur matted, very thin and with rotten teeth. It was suggested that she be put to sleep, but we wanted to give her a chance. Her fur was shaved only leaving fur on her head and tail and two thirds of her teeth were removed. With lots of rest, food and TLC she recovered and has been with us ever since.

Alice

DIBBLE - He is a lovely 8 year old cross Bernman, who's mother was feral. He was the only surviving kitten from his litter as his mother had FIE. Sadly he suffered brain damage and so Dibble has special needs.

Dibble

FRECKLES - She is a lovely 8 year old tabby. She came in as a feral kitten and was hard to home. She is now a lovely domestic cat.

Freckles

LUCKY - She was a black feral kitten who nobody wanted, but 8 years on she has become a great domestic cat.
